Myrtle Origin
: Myrtle can be found in Southwest Oregon and Central California. It is sometimes referred to as Oregon Myrtle or California Bay Laurel.Myrtle Workability:
Myrtle is known to be easy to work with. Tearout and burning when drilling can happen. It glues and finishes well.
Myrtle Uses:Myrtle is commonly used to create furniture, cabinetry, instruments, veneer, and gunstocks.
Color:The heartwood of Myrtle can vary from shades of light brown with orange hue to a grey or olive color. The sapwood is generally lighter and defined.
Janka Hardness:1270
Decay and Weather Resistance:Myrtle is not rated as decay resistent; decay in the heartwood is not uncommon.
