Australian Red Gum Origin
There are many varieties of Eucalyptus; we carry a variety known as Old Growth Red River Gum. This species is found in along the rivers of Australia. All of our current inventory was salvaged from storm damaged trees.
Australian Red Gum Workability:
Australian Red Gum is a very hard, dense wood and can be difficult to work with.
Uses:Popular for furniture because of its color and figuring. It is great for outdoor use in heavy commercial construction, framing, flooring, and joinery.
Color:It has a distinctive red to deep red-brown color. It has a coarse texture with the grain regularly interlocked with the gum veins. Often you can find slabs with fiddle-back figuring.
Janka Hardness:2160 (hard)
Decay and Weather Resistance:It is rated moderate to very durable. Australian Red Gum is sensitive to humidity but otherwise great for exterior applications and contruction.
